“The Lexington Psyche”: Lexington Mental Health Summit – SFAF x Youth Counseling Connection x Beth Israel Lahey Health

On May 31st, 2023, Sunshine For All Foundation hosted a mental health summit in collaboration with Beth Israel Lahey Hospital in Burlington and Youth Counseling Connection in Lexington. Guest speakers Erika Savino-Moffatt (BI Lahey) and Dr. Emily Hayes (YCC) from both Lahey and YCC were able to attend and present their perspectives on teen mental health, and research on the negative effects of excess stress on the teenage brain. People from around Lexington and surrounding towns came to the event and were able to meet these experts and engage in meaningful dialogue and discussion to gain a more open perspective.

The event was hosted at the Lexington Community Center in the Conference center in room 209. Significant issues such as stress management were brought up and discussed, and parents were able to be informed on prevalent student mental health issues within the Lexington Publics Schools and surrounding areas. We hope to host such an event in the future!
